"Walk of Iraq" is a fundraising initiative staged across the globe to collect funds for the International Red Cross programs in Iraq and to raise awareness to the Iraq's humanitarian situation. The funds are raised locally through donations and/or pledges. All net proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross in support of Iraq: Response to Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.
The International Committee of the Red Cross Red Crescent (ICRC) maintains an operational presence in the central, southern and northern parts of Iraq, and remains committed to meeting the immense humanitarian needs across the country. for more details about ICRC activities please visit the following link .
Walk for Iraq first started in London, England on June 16, 2007, which raised more than $40,000. Walk for Iraq is now global. In addition to Canada, fellow Iraqi teams are currently organizing the walk in New Zealand and California.
